Grab a mate and bump your phone to handball, and clasp to catch. With distance, trajectory and wind variables your passing and catching skills will be tested, but work together and you’ll claim ultimate bragging rights.

Project Overview

Overview

The client wanted a unique, engaging app that promoted their brand while keeping customers entertained. The goal was to design a fun, immersive, and interactive mobile game that leveraged phone technology to create a physically engaging experience.

I helped design a two-player mobile game where users could “bump” and “catch” a virtual AFL ball using their phones. By combining the phone’s gyroscope, accelerometer, and magnetometer, the app tracked movement in real-time, simulating the physical actions of passing and catching.

To enhance immersion, I integrated haptic feedback, augmented reality visuals, and environmental factors like wind to challenge players. Face detection allowed users to control gameplay with their movements, making each session dynamic and interactive.

The app became a hit, with users spending 10–15 minutes per session and sharing gameplay with friends, driving social buzz and brand engagement. The innovative features positioned the brand as tech-savvy and fun, strengthened customer loyalty, and made the game a memorable part of the overall experience.
